Solar Technology Lowers the Noise Level in the Waters Surrounding Bora Bora
Interest in solar-powered electric vessels is driven, on the one hand, by concern about the underwater noise produced by conventional craft that is damaging to marine ecosystems and by the pollution caused by fossil fuels. It can also be driven, as this case study demonstrates, by market forces, in particular the wish to offer visitors a better boating experience. Solar-powered craft are an attractive and responsible way to discover beautiful islands and coastlines and to explore their rich and fragile marine environments.
